We’ve recently started publishing a number of academic papers about our underlying R&D (find out more on our Research page!).

To provide a more accessible entry into this research, along with some further background context, we’ll be publishing a number of upcoming blog posts. The first of these is out today and is published in Medium and Towards Data Science.

In this first technical article we discuss connections between physics and machine learning and, in particular, the role of symmetry in both.

Symmetry of a snowflake.

In many ways physics and machine learning share a common goal: to formulate models of observed phenomena. In achieving this goal physicists have long understood the importance of symmetry. In this post we look at how the ideas of symmetry from physics may be leveraged as guiding principles in machine learning.
